Trajan Jia — Artist & Illustrator, London

Trajan Jia is a Chinese artist and illustrator based in London. Specializing in digital art, he is also adept at digital painting and screen printing. His work is characterized by an exquisite and elegant style that deftly fuses decorative aesthetics with traditional Chinese elements.

As an internationally acclaimed creator, Trajan was the winner of the Professional Category at the 2022 World Illustration Awards (WIA) and received the 2024 World Brand Design Society Packaging Design Award. His artwork has been widely engaged in the commercial sector, featuring collaborations with renowned global brands such as Tiffany & Co., Estée Lauder, Bulgari, Starbucks, and prestigious luxury cruise lines.

Trajan holds a degree in Visual Communication from the China Academy of Art and later pursued his Master’s degree at the Chelsea College of Arts in the UK. For over a decade, he has been active in London, dedicating himself to illustration design and artistic creation.

He is committed to constructing a diverse and intriguing world using a visual language rich in decorative and spatial sensibilities. Distinct from conventional techniques and realistic narratives, his work captures the random yet wondrous traces of daily life, ultimately coalescing into an exquisite spatial framework. The architecture and spaces in his work resemble a “quantum system”: from a macro perspective, they possess a stable, functional, and graceful structure; yet, upon closer inspection, the “electrons” within—the figures and their destinies—are imbued with surrealism and unpredictability.

Despite his diverse stylistic explorations, Trajan’s body of work consistently narrates, in various forms, the drifting and imagination of an Eastern observer within a space transcending cultural and temporal boundaries.
